About

Ulf A. S. Holbrook is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher working with sound in a variety of media, including composition, improvisation, installations, programming, text and research. He has an interest in representations of space and place through sound, through the use of spatial audio, sound recording, geospatial methods, and custom software. He studied sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art (2000-2004) and music technology at the University of Limerick (2013-2014), and holds a PhD in music technology from the University of Oslo (2023).

Ulf has over 25 years of experience working as a technician, producer, and project manager for a multitude of cultural institutions, including Sørlandets Kunstmuseum, GSA Exhibitions department, Kunstnernes Hus, Munchmuseet, The National Museum, OCA, Astrup Fearnley Museet, Tron Theatre, among others.

His papers and artistic works have been presented, performed, and exhibited internationally, including New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, International Computer Music Conference, Festival Internacional de la Imagen, Arnolfini Arts, Sonic Arts Research Centre, Kunstpunkt Lista, Sound and Music Computing Conference among others.

He currently works as an acoustics consultant and freelances as a sound designer and researcher.
